What is a CMS (Content Management System)?

Definition

CMS is short for content management system. It is a software that is used to build websites and publish content for the Internet. WordPress is the most well-known CMS system in the world, and does not immediately require any deep understanding of programming.

Today, a CMS can be compared to a dashboard. Instead of having to code everything yourself, you can therefore use a user-friendly and visual dashboard (CMS) to build a website, for example.

One can also think of it as a kind of visual translation of code. Instead of, for example, programming a new page on your website, you simply click “create new page” and the code for a new page is written by itself, and added to your website files.
