What is a Child Theme in WordPress?

Definition

A child theme in WordPress is a sub-theme to the primary theme, and contains the same features, style, and content. It is used as a security, so if the child team is editing and something goes wrong, you have the parent (primary) theme as a kind of backup. You can create a child theme yourself, but most themes today come with a .zip folder for both child and parent theme.
